SIS-PTA Parent Volunteer Programme

Our parent volunteers are always great resources for teachers and a solid support for students. They play a powerful part as a role model for enhancing the school community engagement. The Parent Volunteer Programme video series is dedicated to celebrating the contributions and passion of our parent volunteers.

SIS-PTA cookbook

The SIS-PTA cookbook “Joyful Recipes of Love” is a fundraising project to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Singapore International School (Hong Kong). The cookbook will be launched on 4 December 2021 and part of the proceeds raised will be going to charity.
The SISHK e-Family Festival
3 to 31 December 2021
The SISHK community celebrates Christmas through a virtual platform this year. The SIS-PTA is holding the annual SIS-PTA Christmas Fair online. The celebration commenced on 3 December with the e-concerts. Secondary Years students conducted creative e-games for their juniors on the next day and the atmosphere reverberated with melody of Christmas carols. The Makerspace game teaching students how to make a mini vacuum cleaner is fun and educational. Bargains for Christmas gifts and food offers are available until end of the month. The festive spirit is enjoyed by all!
Makerspace
The Makerspace in our school is a collaborative space where students are inspired to create and invent. Parents volunteers provide much-needed assistance to the teachers for preparing the activities ahead and facilitate learning by giving guidance to students.

Winter Solstice celebrations

Today is the Winter Solstice. Also called “Winter Festival”, it is a time for family reunions. Last week, our parent volunteers made tang yuan

(sweet rice balls) together for our students who learnt about the values of sharing and togetherness through this activity.

Spread the Christmas cheer

Our libraries are splendid this holiday season due to the hard work of our parent volunteers who decorated the entryways and every corner of the libraries. Our student loved the cute book snowmen! Our parent volunteers also assist the librarians in shelving returned books and wrapping books. Thanks to our volunteers for making our libraries warm and welcoming.

Christmas Bake Sale and Jumper Day
 
Our parent volunteers turned their baking talents into a charity project in December 2021. They baked delicious cupcakes, brownies, cookies and more and held a charity sale in our school before the Christmas break. Together with the Jumper Day, the SISHK community successfully raised funds for Save the Children to help transform and save children’s lives in Hong Kong and around the world.

Diwali Day At SISHK, we promote intercultural understanding and respect. The school plaza was resplendent with beautiful Diwali decorations last November. Parent volunteers made and served delicious Indian food for our students and staff in this joyous occasion.

Arts education at SISHK enhances students’ social skills and creativity.  Our parent volunteers assist our teachers to ensure that students are supported in their creative experience.

Ensuring the health and wellbeing of all students is of paramount importance at SISHK. We appreciate all the help our parent volunteers gave us during the Influenza Vaccination Days last year.
