Little Library Book Donation for Children’s Hospitals in Thailand

Little Library is a non-profit organisation founded by Naphat and Nithit Chanpongsang, 2 of SISHK SecondaryDP students. The aim of the organisation is to reuse books sustainably by collecting and redistributing used children’s books to paediatric wards of public hospitals in Thailand. These books are used to distract children from their anxiety in waiting for hours in the high-stress environment of the hospital. Having the books in the wards can also improve children’s cognitive development and educational outcomes, foster a love of reading and promote digital detox amongst the underprivileged children in Thailand. This academic year, the Little Library drive at SISHK resulted in the astonishing number of books that have been donated to public hospitals in Thailand: 3899 books in total! Our school values of Care and Responsibility have been demonstrated by our students with pride and joy. This was also a way to address one of the UNESCO Sustainable Development Goals – Goal 12 “Responsible consumption and production”.
