Camps
Every year the school organises overnight camps in rural areas of Hong Kong for P4 to DP1 students as well as an in-house overnight camp for P3 students. Our students learn about respect, responsibility, resilience, integrity, care and harmony while getting to know each other better through communal living and undertaking challenges during these camps. In addition to testing their mental and physical limits, our students have a lot of fun playing team building games, learning about their own strengths and weaknesses in an outdoor setting, and trying out activities such as kayaking, sailing and abseiling!
Secondary Outdoor Experiential Camps takes place annually in October. As an cohort experience, students are encouraged to attend the camps to strengthen their bonds and rapport with their peers and teachers while developing their leadership competences through challenging themselves and learning to work with others in different environments.
Aims of SISHK Camps (S1-S4)
- Acquire leadership and life skills for personal and future growth,
- Connect with their peers in physical and social interactions
- Engage in outdoor and physical activities to foster the joy of learning and strengthen their character.
Tier 1 Leadership Development Programme
SISHK Camps form the foundation of our Tier 1 Student Leadership Training Programme. The camp focuses on outdoor experiential learning through adventure in S1 and S2.
Adventure and immersion into the natural environment are mediums for students to:
- Relax and unwind from the academic rigour and stress
- Re-connect socially with their peers in a different setting more confident and effective leaders
- Develop and sharpen skills in reflection, problem-solving and critical thinking
- Gain greater awareness of and care for self, others, as well as the natural environment
- Become stronger communicators and more cooperative team members
- Develop outdoor skills and competencies
These camps are platforms for cultivation of values and social-emotional competencies, life skills and positive attitudes that we want our students to deepen so that students can effectively enact personal responsibility and self management skills.
